The State of Policy in India, 2026
India's policy space is growing fast, yet what the journey into it actually looks like remains largely unmeasured. The State of Policy in India (SPI), STRIDE's annual flagship report, puts primary data from those entering and shaping the space into a conversation that has too often run on anecdote and assumption. The inaugural edition launches at the National Policy Forum at the India International Centre, New Delhi, on 14 August 2026, and releases publicly on 15 August: PPI's sixth anniversary and India's 80th Independence Day.
The evidence behind it: a Pulse Survey of 413 respondents, 91% of them students, 84% aged 18 to 30 and 37% from tier-2, tier-3 or rural India, alongside nine community polls with 18,000+ individual selections. The community itself chose the report's five themes: education, gender, public health, technology and sustainability.
The ambition is strong. The evidence is not.
SPI 2026 maps why young people are entering the policy space, where access breaks down, why staying is harder than entering, and what universities, funders and employers can do about it.

Public Policy India runs surveys across its community every week, on a range of policy, governance and career questions, and draws thousands of respondents from across India each time. Because the community is focused rather than generic, sector-agnostic, truly pan-India and gender-balanced, it lets us read the pulse on a subject with a clarity few institutions can match. That real-time, accurate picture informs the work we and our partners do across the ecosystem.
